ORGANIZATIONAL MEMBERS.

National Members.

Description: The heart organization in each country of the American continents that takes an active leadership role to accomplish the overall mission of reducing disability and death from cardiovascular diseases and stroke in that country and best represents the community of people working towards that mission. 

Voting Privileges:

  • Full voting rights.

  • Represented for voting purposes by a medical representative and a non-medical representative.

  • Two representatives in the General Assembly.

  • Votes for Officers of the IAHF (president-elect, secretary and treasurer) and members at large.

Requirements:

  • Only one heart organization from a nation may become a national member.

  • Pay membership dues

Expectations:

  • Usually, but not necessarily always, is the heart foundation in the country that is also a member of the World Heart Federation (WHF).

  • Carry the statement “National member of the InterAmerican Heart Foundation” in its letterhead and promotion items.

Benefits:

  • First rights of refusal to carry out any IAHF program.

  • Special lower pricing for participation in training programs such as “Growing your Heart Foundation”.

  • Greater opportunities for membership in committees and taskforces.

  • Greater opportunities for participation in the development of regional programs and co-sponsorships.

 
Regular Members.

Description: Other heart and related organizations that are not national members.

Voting Privileges:

  • Have voting rights.

  • One representative in the General Assembly.

  • Votes for members at large.

Requirements: Pay membership dues at a lesser rate than National members.

Expectations: Carries the statement “Member of the InterAmerican Heart Foundation” in its letterhead and promotion items.

Benefits:

  • Invitation to participate in IAHF programs.

  • Special lower pricing for participation in training programs such as “Growing your Heart Foundation”.

  • Opportunities for membership in committees and taskforces.

 
Associate Members.

Description: Other heart and related organizations, alliances, coalitions and networks. 

Voting Privileges:

  • Do not have voting rights.

  • May attend the General Assembly

Requirements: Do not pay membership dues.

Expectations: Carries the statement “Member of the InterAmerican Heart Foundation” in its letterhead and promotion items

Benefits:

  • Invitation to participate in IAHF programs

  • Special lower pricing for participation in training programs such as “Growing your Heart Foundation”

  • Some opportunities for membership in committees and taskforces

  • Program participation.

  • Information electronically.
